The ITC is a competition on Market Entry Strategy. To prepare for the Market Entry Strategy, students are required to research and synthesize detailed information related to a specific country to gain a greater understanding of international trade. The exercise stresses the elements of teamwork, competition, marketing, promotion and innovation, and it requires the students to develop a clearly written international marketing plan for a specific country that includes:
As students prepare to create the distribution and logistical elements of their proposals, they will be encouraged to conduct on-line research on the international trade operations of a variety of businesses including FedEx.
To ensure students are equipped to prepare their Market Entry Strategy plan, students are required to attend a one-day ITC Workshop on June 14 / 15 2011 (please refer to schedules below) where market entry strategy tips and the above international marketing plan criteria will be covered.

Malaysia International Trade Challenge (in Kuala Lumpur)
After the workshop, student entrants will have to complete and submit their Market Entry Strategy Plan. The ITC competition requires student entrants to create a comprehensive Market Entry Strategy plan and develop a well-written proposal for judging by local Experts/volunteers. The best 3 teams from Kuala Lumpur and the best 3 teams from Penang will be short-listed to present their plans at the Malaysian International Trade Challenge Finals to be held on August 5, 2011. From there, three winning teams will be selected to represent Malaysia at the Asia Pacific International Trade Challenge in Bangkok to be held on August 23-27, 2011.
Asia Pacific FedEx/Junior Achievement International Trade Challenge (in Bangkok)
The Asia Pacific International Trade Challenge will require students to develop a specific product and create an original international marketing plan for a designated country. The students will develop a PowerPoint presentation, an advertisement for the product, and make a formal presentation to a panel of judges.
The student participants at the Asia Pacific International Trade Challenge in Bangkok will have the opportunity to gain invaluable information, insights and teachings from Senior FedEx executives and obtain expert advice from FedEx program facilitators. The experience will reinforce the knowledge gained and will advance the students' critical thinking skills, comprehension of international trade and command of the lessons learned.

Scoring Rubric
A scoring rubric will be utilized for the evaluation and judging of student proposals and presentations for both the Malaysia and Asia Pacific International Trade Challenges. This will be shared with the students at the workshop.
Malaysia ITC Challenge
1) A Certificate of Merit will be awarded to all the six short listed teams.
2) A medal/trophy and RM1000 worth of book vouchers will be awarded to each of the three winning teams.
*All travel costs for the three teams from Penang will be covered by AMCHAM Malaysia.
The Asia Pacific International Trade Challenge (in Bangkok) winning prizes are:
1st Prize – USD 2,000/student
2nd Prize – USD 1,500/student
3rd Prize – USD 1,000/student
