Breaking the ground of a world class collaboration - ASB, MIT Sloan and Bank Negara Malaysia.

The newly established Asia School of Business, launched by Bank Negara in collaboration with MIT Sloan, USA just broke ground of a new campus designed to become a centre of gravity for business innovation in Asia.

The future campus may be centered in Malaysia, but through the unique curriculum taught by MIT Sloan faculty and all the action learning projects developed with local and regional partners, it will impact every country and every industry that the ASB programs and its graduates will reach.

“The offerings by the School are ambitious. Not only the theoretical foundations and its practical application but also to provide a greater understanding and appreciation of the dynamics of the environment in the emerging world, in particular Asia.“ Tan Sri Zeti Akhtar Aziz, Governor of Bank Negara Malaysia.

Zalina Jamaluddin, the Director of Corporate Development at ASB shared with AMCHAM Malaysia some of her reflections about her experience at ASB.

“Corporate engagement is key to how MIT Sloan collaborates with its partners, delivers value to MBA students and boosts the business ecosystem. Similarly, corporate partnership objectives, at Asia School of Business, are deeply connected to solving Asia’s management challenges and enabling ASB to develop market-ready leaders in a relevant way, in Asia.

From day one we began an energizing engagement with the corporate community by inviting prominent ASEAN industry leaders to join our Board of Governors and our Action Learning advisory board, to develop together an intensive, industry relevant and applied curriculum to support the development of MNC ready future leaders.

The foundation of an Action Learning-based business school, such as Asia School of Business, is based on collaborations and partnerships with corporations and organizations. We work with local partners as well as multinationals in the ASEAN region to create business value and positive societal impact by leveraging MIT Sloan’s expertise and translating that into an Asian context.

In return, we designed and delivered executive education programs and events taught by world-renowned MIT Sloan faculty, such as Nobel Prize winner, Prof. Bob Merton, MIT Dean Emeritus Richard Schmalensee, MIT Associate Dean Jake Cohen, leading thinkers Prof. Roberto Fernandez and Prof. Roberto Rigobon, and many many more.

Today we invite the business community to join us as a founding member of ASB in building a world-class institution that will turbo charge the regional ecosystem just like MIT impacted Boston.

“It’s exciting for me to share with all our corporate friends and partners the many opportunities of endowments and sponsorships. Imagine that generations of future leaders could have the chance to sit in a building name after one of our successful industry captains! Or that a future entrepreneur could have sat in a lecture hall, studied in a library, workshopped in a study room, or will have been mentored by a professor whose chair carries your company name. Or perhaps a scholarship will perpetuate your status as a founding supporter.”

Our message is simple. Let’s create a legacy together!”
