Kuala Lumpur, 13 May 2012: Fraser Place Kuala Lumpur, the country’s first gold standard Serviced Residence by Frasers Hospitality, recently visited National Elephant Conservation Centre in Kuala Gandah, Pahang as a day out activity after a long week in the concrete jungle of Kuala Lumpur.
It was a bright, clear and sunny Sunday when our group of 9 pax took 90 minutes drive out from the Kuala Lumpur city centre. The day trip allowed residents to breathe in fresh country air and at the same time gain awareness and be educated on the importance of conserving wild life and the diminishing number of elephants in Malaysia and all around Asia.
The activity started at 1:00pm where visitors are shown a 30minutes video on how the centre relocates wild elephants that is lost in plantations and village area to a designated area in the conserved forest of Taman Negara in Pahang. Elephants that are rescued or being relocated will have a satellite device installed as collar to detect the activities of the elephants for research basis.

Visitors and guests then were ushered to the big open space where activities with the elephants took place. The trainers briefly explained on the history of each elephant on where they originated from. Some of the elephants perform stunts to entertain the viewers. The activity continues where visitors get the opportunity to feed, ride and bathe with the elephants throughout the evening at the centre. To ensure the elephants are in good health, the elephants are fed with proper diet of fruits and vegetables only.
The centre encourages donations to be made as the proceeds will be used for research and development, and upgrading of facilities available.
The day ended at about 6:00pm as residents arrived back at Fraser Place with exhaustion but had an enjoyable day out. Though tired and sweaty, the residents were very happy and are looking forward for the next trip to places of interest that Malaysia has to offer.
