Malaysians Give Back Through Prosperity Burger Campaign
Generous and satisfied Malaysians have raised RM395,828.80 for charity by enjoying the seasonal Prosperity Burger via the “Prosperity Gives Back” campaign by McDonald’s Malaysia.
During the 11-week campaign from 3 December 2011 to 15 February 2012, 10 cents from the sale of every Prosperity Burger meal were donated to 52 local charitable organisations throughout Malaysia.

When the campaign was first introduced in 2011, RM286,000 was raised and distributed across 44 charitable organisations.
“McDonald’s is very proud and feels privileged to have been part of this opportunity to partner with our customers in Malaysia to benefit local, underprivileged communities and it’s very heart warming to see the amount of proceeds rising,” said the Managing Director of McDonald’s Malaysia, Sarah Casanova.
This is the second consecutive time the charity campaign - featuring the Malaysian created Prosperity Burger with its signature black pepper sauce - has been carried out since it was introduced about two decades ago. The sequel saw almost four million Prosperity Burger meals sold.
“What’s special about the campaign is that it has also strengthened the relationship and goodwill between the local communities and our restaurant personnel, who had earlier identified and visited the local charities to determine their needs,” added Casanova.
‘PROSPERITY’ stands for 10 values that McDonald’s holds dear – Happiness, Friendship, Love, Satisfaction, Peace, Abundance, Sharing, Family, Affection and Joy – which prompted McDonald’s to rekindle the charity campaign featuring the seasonal offering, which has evolved to mean much more to consumers than just a great burger.
