Residence Pass - Talent Briefing
The Talent Corporation, which is under the Prime Minister's Department, is expected to spearhead Malaysia's initiative to attract, nurture and retain talent required for a high-income economy, in line with the Economic Transformation Programme. The Prime Minister announced the creation of Talentcorp in December 2010, and started operations on the 1st of January 2011.
Since then we have made progress on initiatives that benefit the Talent in Malaysia and those that have left the country. One of these initiatives is the Residence Pass - Talent (RP-T), which is targeted at Expats, which provides a more sustainable avenue for expats to work and live in the country.
The Features Of The RP-T Include The Following:
| • | The holder will be allowed to stay and work in Malaysia for between 5 to 10 years (with an option to renew) |
| • | Unlike the Employment Pass, the RP-T is personal to holder and will not bound to a specific employer. |
| • | Spouse and children below 18 years old will also be given the RP-T and enjoy the same benefits as the principal holder. For example, the spouse will also be able to work in Malaysia. |
Who Qualifies For The RP-T?
| • | Any foreign talent who has been living and working in Malaysia for at least 3 years and who is able to contribute to key Malaysian industries, include the NKEA sectors in a significant way. |
| • | Annual Gross Salary is above RM144,000.00. |
| • | Currently holding employment permit |
