Anne Marie Brooks was appointed to lead the American Malaysia Chamber of Commerce in January 2013. She is responsible for overseeing the Chamber's day-to-day operations, advocating for member companies with the Malaysian Government, and growing the Chamber's membership and programs. From 2008 to 2012, Anne Marie served as Government Relations Manager and then Head of Regional and Public Affairs for AMCHAM Singapore, where she led AMCHAM Singapore's advocacy efforts and regional work. In these roles she led a multi-Chamber effort in Singapore to advance negotiations of the Trans-Pacific Partnership, initiated a collaboration among American Chambers in the region to facilitate U.S. business in Myanmar, and organized Ambassador-led, executive-level business missions to Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, and India, and the first U.S. Business Mission to Naypyidaw, Myanmar. From 2008 to 2010, Anne Marie concurrently served as the sole staff for the coordinating advocacy body of the 27 American Chamber of Commerce in Asia: the Asia-Pacific Council of American Chambers of Commerce (APCAC). In this position she authored numerous position papers and advocacy documents on diverse topics of interest to U.S. businesses across Asia and organized large business conferences and advocacy events. Previously, Anne Marie worked in the office of Senator Chuck Hagel (now Secretary of Defense). She has a BA in International Affairs from Washington University in St Louis and speaks French, Arabic, Spanish, and Bahasa.

Marie manages the administration of AMCHAM's office on a daily basis. She is responsible for supervising the front end and reception personnel, handling office suppliers and vendors and liaising with AMCHAM's EXCO members as well as the outsourced Finance Company in the handling of all financial matters. She also assists the Executive Director in the management of AMCHAM membership. Hailing from Mauritius, Marie has been living in Malaysia for the past 10 years.

Barbara plans, coordinates, and administers the Young Enterprise (YE) Program. In support of this initiative, Barbara liaises with corporate sponsors, teachers, and students. As part of her responsibilities, Barbara manages all of the Junior Achievement programs supported by AMCHAM. Additionally, she provides the advertising support for AMCHAM’s publications.

Yvonne plans and organizes AMCHAM’s numerous monthly events and briefings. These include breakfasts and lunches with senior business and government speakers, networking cocktails with other international chambers, golf tournaments, and special roundtables with VIPs from Washington, DC. Yvonne liaises with the U.S. government on developing specialized Chamber briefings and other events for visitors from Washington, DC, including Congressmen, Senators, and Administration officials. She also communicates with the American Association of Malaysia (AAM) on developing social and other American community events under the AMevents series.

AMCHAM’s newest executive comes from a creative background in all sorts of arts and craft. Having a substantial amount of experience in various facets ofcustomer service and communications, Bernadette assists in the planning and organizing of the chamber’s many events and briefings. She also dabbles in matters related to the Young Enterprise Program. She is currently looking for ways to incorporate her artistic talents with her work.
Jesselynn Lai

Jesselynn works closely with industry players to formulate strategies and address key issues affecting AMCHAM members. She also serves as a liaison to the Malaysian Government and U.S. Embassy when consulted on issues concerning American trade and business in Malaysia. Jesselynn manages the Chamber’s electronics committee, Malaysian American Electronics Industry (MAEI) and renewable energy committee, Malaysian Alternative and Renewable Industry (MARI) by creating opportunities for dialogue and private sector engagement on public policy initiatives. She is also responsible for advocacy efforts surrounding human resources, commercial security, cost competitiveness and ease of doing business in Malaysia.

In addition to fielding all incoming calls and greeting AMCHAM's many visitors, Lee Li handles a variety of administrative duties and assists in ad-hoc projects. She also makes arrangements for board and committee meetings held at AMCHAM's office.

Gertjan is a strategic thinker with international operating experience. He uses these qualities in his function as Government Affairs Executive for AMCHAM. “My goal is to continually improve our service as AMCHAM’s aim to become a knowledge center for our members and businesses in Malaysia". Gertjan is involved in the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), part of the Innovation, Technology, Telecommunications and Intellectual Property (ITTIP) Committee and is active with Malaysia’s Energy Policy, Competition Law and Strategic Trade Act (STA). Besides his work at AMCHAM, Gertjan enjoys Asian cuisine and has a passion for New Technologies and Social Media. He is a big soccer fan and especially supports his home team from afar FC Groningen.
