MALAYSIA EXTERNAL TRADE STATISTICS

TRADE PERFORMANCE FOR THE MONTH OF FEBRUARY 2012 AND THE PERIOD OF JANUARY- FEBRUARY 2012

Strong Exports Registered in February 2012

Exports for February 2012 registered a double digit growth of 14.5% to RM56.87 billion. Exports grew by RM7.22 billion from RM49.65 billion in February 2011. Imports was also higher by 18% to RM46.29 billion while total trade expanded by 16.1% from February 2011 to RM103.15 billion.

Positive growth in exports was recorded for all sectors in February 2012 compared from a year ago. Exports of manufactured goods, expanded by RM3.92 billion; mining goods, RM2.71 billion and agricultural goods, RM450 million.

Malaysia Investment Performance 2011

 

During the Annual Media Conference about Malaysia Investment Performance on 21 Februari 2012, MIDA announced that the total investments target for 2011(RM83bn) was exceeded by almost 10 Billion Ringit (RM92bn).

The RM92bn can be split up in approximately 60% DDI and 40% FDI.

Oil & Gas sector have been a big growth sector and expected growth to continue.

Manufacturing investments went up by 19% year on year.
